SchoolCity Inc. Releases New Online Testing Module as Part of their
STARS™ Assessment Suite

Mountain View, CA (June 12, 2009): SchoolCity Inc., a Silicon Valley-based K-12 education technology leader announced today the release of a new online assessment delivery tool as a part of their STARS™ Suite. The online testing module now allows users of STARS™ to deliver benchmark assessments via the internet... in addition to the paper/pencil and scanning system currently provided.

"We are convinced that schools and districts are ready to make the leap to online test taking", says Vaseem Anjum, SchoolCity's President and CEO. "We have had so many requests to add this feature, we had to act in order to support our existing and future customers".

Online testing has been available in K-12 education for years. But a lack of student-available computers and low bandwidth for schools and districts has traditionally kept online testing from wide spread use. But, technology grants, Microsoft anti-trust settlement dollars and E-Rate funding over the years have gradually changed the landscape.

As a key Microsoft partner, SchoolCity's online testing module is built using the Microsoft platform including Microsoft .NET and Microsoft SQL Server database back end. The new tool will also allow standards-aligned questions to be added from SchoolCity's Assessment Item Banks making their STARS™ Assessment Suite, completely electronic if desired.

The economy and related education budget reductions have driven the need for a more cost-effective, paperless assessment method. "Online testing reduces paper consumption and costs", says Kris Jensen, SchoolCity's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Not to mention the positive effect using less paper has on the environment".

SchoolCity will be implementing their new online assessment delivery tool to customers starting summer and fall 2009.
